Barbarellas were on sky 1 tonight on Louis spence show business, I have recorded it and will upload tomorrow. It features clips of the making of the video night mode!
I would love to hear your thoughts on this guys coz my initial feeling is not good. I'm much prefer the original diet coke song and I don't understand the costumes! I still love the girls and will wait until I hear the full song and video before I decide whether I like it or not.

Honestly, when I first saw them as the Barbarellas, my initial thought was "why???". More so because I was worried about them being compared to Lady GaGa, and being shunned as "unoriginal". But, hey, it makes them happy and the music is good. And apparently, weird is popular these days, anyway. I still prefer to see them as themselves, though.
Also, there is a difference between them and the Just Dance chic. Barbarella's "look" has a consistent theme to it. Whereas Lady GaGa would fasten together some strange "outfit" concocted out of busted condoms and blood-soaked baby bottles and claim it's a political statement against abortion or something. There's artistic and then there's just plain odd, and she skirts along the edge.
And what the heck did Keavy mean by "they used my tears"? I'm anxious to see this. Time will tell whether this video will be hot or just a hot mess.

I'll watch it next week when my mother goes out of town, as I prefer to watch videos or listen to music online in private.

I've said it before and I'll say it again,Gaga got criticism when she first started too,she got(and still gets)compared to Madonna and all of her weirdness. So the girls are no different than her in that respect, once they get their feet off the ground again I'm sure they'll be fine. Honestly, when this whole thing started up again my initial thought was also "Why??" and it wasn't so much for their look or their music, but like, when I watched the interviews and heard how they kind of down themselves on the whole wearing denim thing...well...that kind of bothered me. Their target audience has definitely changed and there's nothing wrong with that at all,but honestly,B*Witched did better than the Spice Girls where being role models were concerned because their target audience(kids/primarily younger girls)didn't feel the need to look like skanks. Sorry...mini rant...

Gaga is now massive because of her amazing songs, insane styling and a very large budget from her record label, I'm just worried that this kind of image isn't going to work because the image doesn't seem to match their songs. Lady gaga is a little weird so people look the other way when she dresses crazy, you stick two down to earth irish girls in gaga style costumes, its just makes me think 'why' why have a image that doesn't match their personality.

I also agree that they should not have to defend themselves in regards to b*witched, it worked back then. And your right they were much more than just another girl band they were great role models, I just think now they are changing themselves into what they think the public wants and not really who they are. But again that's probably more down to management than them actually wanting to look like gaga.
Wow I've gone on an anti style rant! What do people actually think of this new video and song?

Oh yeah,Gaga is a tremendous talent, and very creative in her weirdly unique style. She's grown on being herself, despite the criticism at the start of her career. The girls have a tremendous talent as well, they always have,I just wish it still felt like they were being themselves. No,I don't expect denim and irish dancing forever, everyone needs to grow and be awesome, but sometimes I just feel like there's something missing with them and that they aren't being completely themselves. The look kind of works,it will take some getting used to. From what I saw of the video,I'm not sure about their costumes and hair styles...is there an official video out or is it just the little preview for now? So far so good,I'm a little iffy on the look but I'm sure it will turn out fine.

My thoughts exactly! I don't know why but it doesn't seem like them, maybe it's the wigs that put me off. No official video yet, it's out in April so I guess the video will be around in the next month or so.

When they were switching up outfits, the black and white looking ones looked really nice, the long haired wigs were pretty hot but those flashy ones at the end made them look like a cross between drag queens and peathingys. I mean no disrespect it's just, that look didn't seem to fit and it really threw me off.

It's such a random thing to wear and your right it does make them look like drag queens. Is there anyone here that likes the look? I'm interested to know whether my dislike is because we've known them a some thing different and the new clothes are drastically different. Are there any new fans that love the new image?

My original shock has since subsided. Maybe it doesn't seem like them because we're so used to them being the other way. But, truth be told, none of us really know them well enough to say whether it's really them or not. And some of that innocence they portrayed with the B*witched image was fabricated by their record company. There are a lot of "sides" to people and you don't really know a person as well as you may think. A person can be "down to earth" and still have a "wild side". If anything, a wild creative side. But, then, if they are cashing in, if it works for them, then I could care less what they decide to wear or why they decide to wear it. As long as people can see how talented they actually are, and not focus all of their attention on those "horny" wigs.
Lady GaGa Twisted Sister Liberace Adam Ant Madonna Labelle Ziggy Stardust (David Bowie) etcetera. They've all done the "weird" thing, and they got pretty far. The girls may actually know what they're doing.
There is once instance in one of those videos, where Edele looks like Katy Perry. And Keavy looks like...blonde Katy Perry. (I watched a bit of one while my mother was visiting my sister.)
Yeah, it bothers me, too, that they feel the need to defend their time in B*witched. That music, those song, meant a lot to a lot of people. It helped some of us get through some pretty tough times. There's nothing to defend. I loved B*witched. Still do. I am not ashamed.

Its not that the girls are trying to be Lady gaga, just that fashion is constantly changing and I think Keavy and Edele are trying to find out what works best with their music.
As its a music video, i think its ok to go over the top with hair, make up and clothes.

Oh I also, judging from the actual music, I'm more keen on Diet Coke than Night Mode.
But again, until we hear the full song then its going to be hard to judge it. I think it did have to be reworked as it did sound quite dated.

No ones saying there trying to be lady gaga, we're just using that comparison because they are similar styles. I read in one if the articles that the girls don't like being compared to lady gaga and would rather be compared to transvestites because lady gaga wasn't very pretty and that pissed me off. They shouldn't be saying nasty things like that about other artists, they know exactly how it feels to be on the receiving end of that.
