Hi everybody.
I thought of starting a thread for each 60s group I like, but as most of you are so much younger than me I think 60s music may be a minority interest and one thread would suffice.
I think most of you (except those who have joined in the last few days) will know I'm a fan of The Who. Apart from that:
The Kinks - I saw Ray Davies earlier this year and he gave a superb show. I just wish he'd get The Kinks back together. The Small Faces - never got the chance to see them and the two songwriters are now dead. I also liked Ronnie Lane's solo stuff. The Rolling Stones. The Beatles - but mainly George's solo stuff. When I was a child - I didn't know you were only supposed to like either the Beatles or the Stones! I liked both and still do!

Paul,
I'm so glad someone finally replied! It gave me a chance to see and correct my typos.
The nearest to seeing one of The Beatles I've ever come is seeing Zak Starkey (Ringo's son) playing the drums with The Who. Better drummer than his dad.
I'm going to see another 60s group in April - my wife, son, and I are going to see The Beach Boys. Expensive tickets, but I've liked them for over 40 years and this is the first chance I've ever had to see them live.

The 60's is the greatest era ever music wise and culture wise in my opinion. I wish I was alive back then...man that would have been awesome. How could you compete with The Beatles, Stones, Hendrix, Cream, the Beach Boys, Mamas and the Papas, The Kinks, The Byrds, Dylan, Simon and Garfunkel...the list goes on and on.

I like a lot of rock music from the 60's. Granted, I was born 20 years later, but I still like the music. Some songs are just timeless.
Also, you realize the music we listen to today is going to be "old" in 20, 30...50 years? We'll have kids, and grandkids, and they'll visit us, and we'll put on some music...and Ludacris is going to come blasting through the "old-timey" iPOD stand. Kids will be rolling their eyes and groaning at the P*ssycat Dolls and The Black-Eyed Peas... It's going to be fun.
