The best thing this does is frees them up to do as they please. I don't think this is it for music at all. They still love music and will pursue it even if they don't find major commercial success.
There are worse things than going Band Camp mode. I'd like to see them do something like Vanessa Carlton. Dumped by major label->keeps at it anyway. No, she's not scoring platinum albums or making a seven figure income, but she's certainly making a living.
I thought the record was much better on MySpace as Ms Lynch than what was eventually produced and put out as "Barbarellas". So, they have all the tools they need. It's just a matter of adjusted planning and expectations.

The gig Ozziepants (that's my new name for him, and he can do nothing about it) is referring to is the St. Patrick's one in Edinburgh that Jack's been going on about on Facebook. We're the fans.
