Which decade had the best music? (You can choose more than one) and who are your favorite artists from that decade(s)?

I've gone for the 60s and the 70s, simply because music (for me) became really good in 1967 when The Kinks did Waterloo Sunset and The Small Faces did Itchycoo Park. It peaked (again for me) in 1971 with The Who's album Who's Next - this has been my favourite album since before most of you were born.
The Who, The Rolling Stones, and David Bowie did some superb albums in the years 1971 - 1976, so I consider the best decade for music to be 1967 - 1976. I've already mentioned my favourite performers.

That's actually pretty difficult for me... as there are so many bands/artists I can think of from each decade that I like... There's Led Zeppelin, Grateful Dead, The Beatles, The Doors, The Beach Boys, Hendrix... list goes on...
truth be told I really like a lot of Simon & Garfunkel type stuff, there's Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath etc. and then there's 70's punk like The $ex Pistols, Dead Kennedys, etc.
Some of those can apply to more than one decade. Too many to name in the 80's, but I chose the 90's because that was my childhood and it's relevant to me. Not just the pop, but the rock too. Red Hot Chili Peppers (although they technically started in the 80's, they achieved huge success in the 90's) Incubus, ....... TONS! I am not impressed with American music so far... but as far as the 2000's go, I like a lot of English and Scottish indie bands

I've only been around for the 90's...so I'm gonna go with that,the music of 2000 and beyond is kind of...I dunno...its ok I guess...not great but ok.
