Any Squeeze fans here?
For anyone who doesn't know, Squeeze were a British group from the late 70s/early 80s, famed for songs which weren't always serious.
After a break of several years they're back and I'm going to see them tomorrow night.

Only Squeeze song I know is 'Tempted', and I'm not even sure they sing that... ._. Yes, that's them - and Tempted is one of my favourites of theirs. I expect they'll do it tonight. Since they split up I've seen Glenn Tilbrook on his own several times, and he always does it. Their most famous songs are probably "Cool for Cats", "Up the Junction", and "Labelled with Love". I'm listing those in case anyone thinks "I know that song, but didn't know who it was by" - much like I did when I finally got round to buying a B*witched CD! Chris Difford was always the lyricist and Glenn Tilbrook wrote the music. Chris was astonished when he heard what Glenn had done to "Labelled with Love". They were very much a Rock group, and Glenn wrote Labelled with Love as Country and Western.

Really? I would've thought their most famous song would have been 'Tempted', simply because it still gets radio play, it's been in movie soundtracks, and if you mention the band Squeeze, most people would think of that song. Or maybe that's just me. I've never heard of the other songs. Must have been more popular over there.

Must have been more popular over there. I'm sure they were (are) more popular here. Some of their songs contain a distinctive British humour that might not translate too well. I know they have toured the US - when I saw Glenn on his own earlier this year he told a story about when Squeeze were touring the US supporting Fleetwood Mac. The story was about Stevie Nicks having a tent on stage so she could go in and change her outfit several times during the show. But sometimes she came out of the tent wearing the same clothes. If you know Stevie Nicks' reputation you might get the joke in that story, if you don't then PM me. If I put it on a public message board she may sue me for defamation of character! It occurred to me last night - those of you in the UK have probably heard of Jools Holland, even if you only know him as a television presenter. He came to fame because he was the original keyboard player with Squeeze. Brilliant show last night - they did all the songs referred to earlier in the thread. But rip-off prices at the merchandise stall. £10 for a programme! I declined. But I did succumb to a tee shirt costing £20. I'm going to wear it at the gym later today. £20 is still a rip-off price, but at least I'll get some use out of a tee shirt. I'd read the programme once then stick it in a drawer.
