I probably won't need them for a couple of years, but it's still good to know what I should let little rugrat watch when old enough, so if you have any clue - let me know ;D

It would help if you provided us with a short list of programmes you do and don't get in the land down under. I could recommend some, but I would't know if you could even see them. Even some shows online could be region locked.

anything with math and art,and at all costs avoid reality tv...too many parents make that mistake and now there are five year olds dressing up like the tool boxes from jersey shore.

Yeah, anything educational. But avoid religious programmes.

unless you want to give them the option to learn about religion, that in itself is up to you,but from an educational stand point on that its probably something you'd want to watch with them to explain it to them or help educate them on other religions and the culture behind them.

Well, Sesame Street is a definite plus If I have "cable" TV then chances are most programs will be available.
Would prefer to steer clear of Hi-5 and Wiggles, but the latter is actually better for kids (name one little one who hate them!) and would watch Play School. (all three aussie shows naturally)

I guess it will also depend on what they have on in a couple years too, there's always something happening for kids television.
also,my niece hates the wiggles, she freaks out when she sees them and throws things at the tv...it was hilarious the first two times but then...it got scary.

My neice loves a show called Caillou. It irritates me, but, then, I'm not a five-year-old.

Well if it's that annoying, it's not happening.

let's be real,ALL little kid shows are annoying. But they're not for us so we can't really complain, plus half the stuff we watched when we were little were probably annoying to our parents too.

My dad has a Play School CD from the 80s (or 90s)....
But that is true, most kids shows will be annoying to me.. but, in saying that, I can have a say in what my kid will watch when I'm around them.
