Chapter 1 Fights between good friends can often lead into tragedy. An abysmal quarrel made Keavy Lynch and Lindsay Armaou sink to their deadly fait. No one would ever guess that Keavy would have bothered defending her dearest friend Sinead again, especially under her condition. There were so many things rushing through her body,so many drugs and other substances that would have left her for dead. She was so trashed from the night before and she still stood in front of that gun with a knife in her hand. Now there are two bodies on the floor and two families in mourning.
In the still of a hot summer night a group of students are on a school trip to Madrid. The girls crowded in one room playing cards and the boys were on the lower floor watching the television. However there were two people separated from the group, a girl and a boy who are both barely sixteen. “Nate…” She said softly and abridged her protests to small pleas. “I don’t think I’m ready.” He pulled her close and felt his way around her body from top to bottom delicately, as if petting a cat. Soon a kiss graced her lips and his grip tightened. Through the entire trip in Madrid Nate turned their steady relationship into an aggrandizing one, making it seem as if the two were married. He put on the allusion that they were in love when on the girl’s part it was not true. However, Nate held no animosity for weakness, if she didn’t want to do something then it was too bad because she knew he hated that. She whimpered as he slowly pushed her against the wall and moved his hand to her denim shorts. She tried to pull away and turn on the light but he caught her too quickly and swung her around to the bed. Her eyes exploded with terror and she nearly screamed. “Please…I can’t…” She cried, breathing heavily. “That’s just nerves I can make them go away.” He replied with a silky tone to his voice. Soon he was on top of her and, as she became an unwilling advocate beneath him, he ripped her shirt apart and nearly un-hooked her bra until he felt her body bracing until finally she relaxed and was shaking beneath him. He looked into her eyes and saw that they had rolled back. As her body continued to quiver he simply decided that she would never remember this and he could do as he pleased. He slipped her shorts off and undid his fly and went down on her. It only took a moment until she started screaming he covered her mouth and smacked her temple, causing her to shake again. The door flew open and three girls rushed in to see what the matter was. “Keavy get the light!” One of them said. A young raven haired and pale young girl flicked on the light and the three screamed at the sight upon the bed. “Get off of her you pervert!” Keavy said tackling Nate into the ground. “Edele, she doesn’t look so good.” The other girl said. Edele Lynch, a good friend to the passed out girl on the bed, knelt down on the floor and brushed the girls blond hair from her face. “Sinead…” She said softly. “Come on, wake up. Lindsay, go get help.” She said to her friend standing beside the bed. Keavy brought Nate to his feet and then kicked his stomach. He staggered about before he could stand up straight. He pulled up his fly and tried to go after Keavy. She charged into him and pinned him against the wall. “Get out while you can, Nate.” She growled. Nate took off into the hall way and Keavy looked to Edele. She went over to the bed and sat down beside Sinead. “Is she ok?” “Not sure, Lindsay went to get someone.” “Did he get into her?”Keavy worked the nerve to ask. Edele moved Sinead upwards to a pillow and then checked the sheets for blood. She felt around the sheets until she came upon something thick and damp. Keavy edged closer as Edele brought her hand up, revealing only a little blood. “Oh lord…” She grimaced. Blood from their dearest friend upon sheets isn’t exactly what two fourteen year old girls should see however this was something the Lynch twins were used to.Lindsay returned with an adult at her side, they took Sinead to a hospital and Nate was sent home and put into juvenile detention once he got there.(nice) Keavy Edele and Lindsay stayed at the hospital with Sinead to make sure she was all right. She still hadn’t woken up. By the time visiting hours were nearly through Keavy was the only one of the three awake. “I can’t believe he did that to you…” She whispered possessing an affinity for her dear friend’s suffering as she laid there in the hospital bed completely limp and blanch as her skin grew paler. “Neither can I…” Sinead's voice piped up. Keavy's eyes fluttered open and she leaned in towards Sinead and they embraced. They spoke about the incident and how it all happened. Sinead started to cry when she brought up how stupid she felt, letting him take advantage of her the way he did. Keavy absolved Sinead's pain and explained how she tackled him and exaggerated by saying she would have killed him if he hadn’t begged her not to. This made Sinead smile, feeling less guilty about the entire situation, and Keavy just laughed at herself. “Oh you’re too kind.” Sinead joked. “I know I can’t stand myself.” Keavy laughed blithely. There was an awkward pause between them. Sinead tugged at her arm a little and stared down at her legs. Keavy took a deep breath and slowly exhaled before either of them spoke. “Keavy?” Sinead asked timidly. “Did he break me?” Keavy's eyes widened just as they did when she asked Edele the same question in the hotel room some hours before hand. The thoughts of seeing her friends blood on her sister’s hand made her shiver in disgust. Her eyes met Sinead's and she only stared a moment. “Yeah…” Immediately after Keavy's response Sinead surrendered into a fresh wave of tears and they embraced again. This tormented her to see her friend so upset, so hurt and betrayed. “He hurt you…” Keavy said trying to hold back her own tears. She pulled Sienad up a bit so their eyes met again. “I won’t let him…or anyone else every hurt you again. Do you know why?” She asked. Sinead sniffed and shook her head. Her eyes were red and puffy from crying so much. “You’re my friend.” Keavy said as a stray tear fell against her cheek. “Friend’s don’t let friend’s get hurt.”
There are so many ways to be sympathetic to another person, apologizing for a loss can help only certain levels. Keavy Lynch hated hearing “I’m Sorry” from people who found out about her sister Edele's death. A car accident took her other half away forever and severely injured her oldest sister, Tara. It was a heartbreaking tragedy for the Lynch household and all Keavy could do now was sit in her dark, quiet bedroom and reminisce. “Keavy?” Her dearest dead sister’s voice called out in a memory. “We’ll always be best friends right? You know, more then just sisters.” “Of course we will!” Keavy recalled replying to her. “Good, because I’d go nuts if I didn’t have you around.” “Me too.” Keavy laughed. Edele was always seen as Keavy's conscience and it worked the other way around as well. As long as they had each other no one ever dared mess with them. Keavy continued thinking about the good times she shared with her sister. Edele was a symbol of resistance. They grew up in a family where their two older sisters were druggies and their only brother was a dealer they were anti drug poster children in their parent’s eyes. Their younger sister, Naomi, was one reason that they never got into drugs and al that at a young age. How could they do that to her? Perish the thought that they’d ever corrupt Naomi the way Tara,Allison and Shane tried to corrupt them. There was never a moment when one of them wasn’t trying to offer them something illegal or immoral. “You should at least try it before you go knockin’ it.” Tara said waving the joint in front of Keavy. “She said no, Tara, and so did I. So go kill yourself somewhere else and leave us alone.” Edele growled pulling Jane beside her. “Whatever, one day, Keavy, you’ll try it, without your dumber half botching it up.” “I don’t think so…” Keavy replied walking away from her sisters. “I’d rather be a clean idiot then a stoned one, Tara, and while you’re thinking about what exactly I meant you should really hide that before Mom gets home.” Edele said, smiling with a benign bit of sarcasm in her tone.
Keavy managed to smile only for a moment until she realized that those days were gone forever. Her sister was dead and there was no way to bring her back. At that she cried once more, dealing with the arduousness of this loss wouldn’t be easy in the very least. Allison, Keavy's other older sister, knocked on her bedroom door. She didn’t want Keavy to be alone much during this loss, in fear that her little sister might become suicidal and do something crazy.Keavy didn’t respond to the gentle tapping at the door so she let herself in and stood at the door. “Hey,” Allison said gently, closing the door behind her. Keavy sat up and reached over for her teddy bear, she turned her back on Allison because she didn’t want her to know how much she’d been crying. Allison sighed and walked over to the bed; she sat down and pulled Keavy into a strong embrace. “I’ll miss her too, honey, but she’d hate to see you like this.” “I know…” Keavy whispered as tears ran down her face. “Will you come downstairs then? It’s almost time to leave and we can’t be late for the viewing.” Keavy nodded and pulled out of the embrace, Allison stood up and helped her sister to her feet. They walked out of the room and closed the door on the way out. The ride to the funeral home was in sheer silence, no one spoke or looked to anyone else, they just sat there as if the world had ended and they were the only ones to survive it. Keavy's world ended, in her mind at least. Edele was the closest person to her and now she was gone forever. She didn’t usually begrudge anyone else for anything at all but as they passed a park she saw so many families, happy together. Sisters swinging on swings and sliding on slides, she could never have that again. They finally pulled into the parking lot of the Chariot to Heaven Funeral home. Keavy stood alone by the casket and stared down at her sister’s lifeless body and reminisced once more. “Tara's going to pick me up at the mall tonight and give me a lift home, are you going to be there with her?” Edele's voice echoed in Keavy's mind as the painful memory came back to haunt her. “I don’t know, I haven’t been sleeping so well lately, I thought I’d turn in early.” Keavy yawned. Edele nodded and embraced her, Keavy had been having nightmares all that week about shadows tearing apart her internal organs and then going after Edele. She’d wake up screaming and in a cold sweat. After waking she refused to close her eyes for too long, because every time she tried she’d see those shadows taking over herself and then trying to kill Edele. “I want you to rest then.” Edele said releasing her. “All right, have fun at the mall.” “I will goodnight.” “Night.” That was the last conversation she ever had with Edele, they ended it with another embrace and then Keavy fell asleep. She was woken up by the sounds of her mother screaming and her two sisters crying. She ran downstairs to see what happened and she saw a policeman standing at the door talking to her father. He looked up at her sadly and motioned for her to come down and hear the news that Tara and Edele were in an accident. When she asked if they were ok, his eyes filled with tears and he told her what had happened. The car they were in skidded off the road and hit a parked car, the side that Edele was on got crushed and she died instantly. Tara on the other hand was only injured, she was lucky to get out alive considering that her side of the car went up in flames. Keavy began to cry again as this thought continued to dawn on her. She reached into the casket and took Edele's hand. After a moment she started saying “no, no, no.” over and over until Allison had to pull her away slowly. She continued to cry softly in her sisters arms until she forced herself to calm down. Lindsay and Sinead showed up with several others who were there to support the family. They sat with Keavy and comforted her, they knew this wouldn’t be easy for her so they stayed with her and agreed to be there for her until she didn’t need the support anymore. “She was a good person, Keavy, I’m really sorry.” Lindsay said slowly. “Thank you.” Keavy replied with no emotion in her tone. “Are you going to be ok?” Sinead asked. “As good as I can be…” Keavy sighed. The night went on and gradually people started leaving the funeral home, Sinead stayed long after Lindsay left. She and Keavy didn’t talk much but in this kind of situation that didn’t matter much. “Listen, if you ever need anything, call me ok?” “I will thank you.” Keavy replied with as little emotion as she’d been showing all night. “Seriously, Keavy, I’ll always be here for you, do you know why?” Sinead said, suddenly sparked with her own memories. Keavy merely looked up at her, she almost knew what was coming but her curiosity got the best of her. “You’re my friend; it’s my job to be here.” Sinead said, smiling. Keavy smiled back and hugged Sinead, now she had someone there, not in place of her sister, just there. That’s all she needed. Chapter 2
Two years had gone by since Edele's death and most of that time Keavy spent it alone. In those two years everything about her life had changed, her best friend was dead, her parents divorced and her older siblings nasty habits became a lot worse and got her mixed into it as well. Although she still had Sinead and Lindsay, times had changed for the better. Sinead was one of the top students in her class, Lindsay was close to becoming a high school drop out at that point and Jane was stuck between the two. However the three still remained friends, friends are the most important people in a person’s life. Friends are there to relieve stress from family life, in this case Lindsay and Sinead kept Keavy sane through the pressures her older siblings put her through. “Keavy, I’m going for a walk, do you want to tag along?” Tara asked. A “walk” for Tara was nothing more then stepping outside for a smoke, she was always trying to encourage Keavy into going with her but as always she refused and remained in the house. That’s how she spent her time through those last two years, indoors all the time. It made Allison worry about her constantly, her reaction to the loss at first was normal and now it’s just ridiculous. “Keavy, enough is enough, you need to get out of the house more.” Allison chastised her as Tara walked out the door after another refusal. “I don’t like going for walks with other people.” Keavy replied with candor. “You’ve been in this callous loner phase for way too long, it’s time that you moved on with your life and accept that she isn’t coming back.” Allison added harshly. Keavy's body grew limp and she stayed quiet for a while, after a few minutes she got up and left. Allison watched her leave and sighed, she knew what she said was mean but it had to be said.Keavy never got closure from Edele's death, after the funeral she never went back to see the grave. She wasn’t very coherent as she read the eulogy she went in and out of the subject so easily it was as if she didn’t even know where she was or why she was there.
Tara walked along the streets with her clique of alcohol abusing, drug addicted cronies, smoking a cigarette and passing around a bottle of cheap booze. This was her idea of fun. Although she had to circumspect her actions around her parents and other older relatives she didn’t have to heed any consequences when around her friends or younger siblings. Her brother, Shane, was a dealer now and a lot better at his trade then he ever was, Allison thrived on drinking and sex and the last two, Keavy and Naomi, would never say a word in fear that Tara might beat the nuts out of them. She wasn’t fond of that reputation but it kept her out of trouble.
Whatever worked was what worked, no questions asked. As for their parents, their mother took off soon after Edele died and then their father became a chronic alcoholic. Also like Allison,Tara worried about Keavy and how she was handling the loss, two years is a very long time and it should have been enough time for her to get over the loss on her own. That night when she went home, her father and brother still out working late and the two younger sisters already asleep, Tara and Allison shared a bottle of vodka and discussed what they were going to do about Keavy. “Mom’s not around anymore, so we have to take care of the family when Dad is at work.” Allison said on a buzz. “Yeah…Keavy really needs to relax, you know?” Tara replied, downing the last of the vladdy. “Yeah, I know. How to do it though, right? That’ll be something…she won’t let anyone near her anymore.” “I know what we can do…” Tara said slowly and then started to laugh. “What?” Allison asked, sitting up and staring at her confused. “We should get her high.” Allison's eyes widened and she threw the bottle of vodka in Tara's direction and it shattered against the wall behind her head. Tara stood up and easily fell back down Allison stood up and was stable enough to stay standing. “You are not going to touch her!” Allison hissed. “It’ll help her, you’ll see.” Tara explained. “You mean to delude her from her decision against pot? It’s not for you to decide and it’s not for you to corrupt the way she thinks, Tara!” Tara obviously wasn’t listening to anything Allison had to say, she had already made up her mind. If Keavy could coalesce with her kind of people she would be able to move on from the loss and be fine. Allison wouldn’t have it, even though she wasn’t the best influence to her little sisters she tried hard enough to protect them from anything they couldn’t handle on their own.She protected them from all of the dangers she had to face herself when she was only sixteen years old. Now that Keavy was at that point in her life Allison only wanted to keep her from harms way at all costs. She just couldn’t stand to lose her like she lost Edele. “Stay away from my little sister.” Allison growled. “I’d love to see you try stopping me.” Tara laughed. Tara eventually pushed herself up in a standing position and then staggered up the stairs to her own bedroom. Allison was left standing there angered and confused as to what Tara planned to do. In her dark, incense fumed bedroom, Tara searched through her closet for a bong and some weed she had cached away some time before all of this happened. She was going to make Keavy do whatever she wanted her to do. As the hours went by Keavy sat at her desk while Naomi slept in the bed beside her. It seemed as if Keavy did nothing through the two years of grief when actually she picked up an artistic hobby. She spent hours painting abstract pieces and sometimes she would delineate family members and random things that were on her mind. It was the way she always expressed herself growing up, but now she had more to express and more filled sketch books that would make any artist envious. Naomi had seen some of Keavy's copious master pieces and applauded her hard work but Keavy didn’t care for the admiration. Gradually the sketches became more and more morbid and in almost every one after a while there were images of smoke and happy faces and pot leaves. Could she really be thinking about trying that stuff? Every time that thought came to mind she immediately dismissed it as if it were nothing at all. The thought of it kept growing more and more every time until it seemed she could not control it.She just wanted to relax for once. She knew how bad her depression got after the loss. She finally came to a decision, she was going to try it but not with Tara. She had other friends who smoked pot and she was going to do it with them. If only Tara knew how easy her plan could be now that Keavy was capitulating to the entire subject of relaxing and smoking to do so. The next morning in school, Keavy's friend Patrick came into class stoned. He and Keavy always talked about smoking together some time. Keavy was never serious when she agreed but that particular morning she made it perfectly clear that it’s what she really wanted to do. Of course, Patrick was overjoyed by Keavy's seriousness and he told her to meet him during their lunch period that day at the park. Patrick always said it was better to smoke pot in nice natural environment. Which was usually within the woods or in a hidden meadow near their homes by the creek, Keavy met up with him at the park and they walked to the creek which was further from the school then she thought. They were far enough from any homes and streets so no one would see them doing this, from a distance Keavy could smell a foul skunk like smell Patrick said there were other people nearby smoking. He pulled out the joint and lit it, he inhaled through his mouth then exhaled all of the smoke out of his system and then handed it to her. She only held it for a moment and then started to bring it to her mouth. She inhaled and then brought the joint down and exhaled. It felt so natural the way she did it, her body started to relax a little bit and she handed it back to her benefactor. They talked about so many things, religion, politics, and things they've seen on television.Every now and then Patrick would check to see if anyone was coming in their directions.Whether it be cops or simply someone much bigger than them.He left Keavy alone for only two minutes and came back to find her on the ground twitching. "Woah..." He marveled. "Bunnies...." Keavy sobbed. "bunnies..." Her body started shaking out of control, eyes rolling to the back of her head. “Oh my God,” A familiar voice cried out from behind her. "What did you do to her?!" "Woah...is she like...possessed?" "Shut up,Patrick!" Terry waved him off. Patrick took off and Allison knelt down beside her sister who continued to shake. "Keavy? Talk to me honey...." Keavy couldn’t answer, she was seizing. Smoke filled the air. When she came out of it she was dizzy as question after question danced in her mind. What was going on? Was it really worth the try? What was Allison doing there? How did she find her so quickly? Before she could even ask, she passed out from exhaustion.

Chapter 3 Allison carried Keavy back home ignoring all of the people who stared as she walked. How could she do this? Why would she do this? Keavy was always the smart one, she never got mixed up into something like this and now that it has happened what would happen next? Allison knew this day would come eventually, it happened to her so why not Keavy? So many thoughts and feelings rushed through her she could hardly get it off her mind. Once Keavy woke up she was going to have a very long talk with her about this situation. Allison knocked on the back door and Naomi opened it for her. “Is she dead?” Naomi asked innocently seeing Keavy's limp body. Allison grimaced and waved her off, Naomi walked away still wanting to know what was going on. She was used to seeing Allison and Tara trashed like this but not Keavy. “Let’s get you upstairs, honey.” Allison whispered to the unconscious girl in her arms. As she made her way to the stairs Tara walked in, reeking of marijuana and alcohol. She laughed as she bid her friends farewell, she turned and stared blankly at Allison holding their sister. She approached them and put her hand on Keavy's forehead. “What’s with her?” She asked in a tone that seemed so immaterial, Allison knew how little Tara cared about anything while stoned. “She’s sick.” Allison replied, walking up the stairs and taking Keavy to her bedroom. Sinead didn’t see Keavy at lunch that day and became worried because she had just seen her that morning in class talking to Patrick. She had nothing against him but she knew what he did during their lunch period. She saw Lindsay later that day and asked if she had seen Keavy around. “I saw her take off with Patrick during second block.” Lindsay informed her as they walked down the street to their bus stop. “You don’t think she’d actually do that, you know…” Sinead panicked. “Why not, Keavy was always into trying new things.” Lindsay shrugged. “How can you say that so insipidly?” “She doesn’t knock something before trying it.” This was true; Keavy was never one to judge something before trying it at least once. What if she liked it and became like one of her older sisters friends? Constantly stoned or drunk or something of that sort that made them screwed up completely. This guile decision that Keavy made up would have to wait for discussion the next day in school. There had to be some purpose in it otherwise it wouldn’t make any sense at all.
Allison decided to let it go just this one time believing that Keavy probably didn’t know what she was getting herself into. Besides, it was only one time. She trusted her sister enough not to do it again. Everyone tries something stupid at least once in their entire existence and this was Keavy's time for stupidity. Now that it was over Allison had no reason to get completely worked up about it. By morning, Keavy had forgotten what happened anyway, whatever memory she could have had about the day before served as no purpose in her morning routine before going to school. Sinead pulled her aside a few minutes before class started and told her they needed to talk. Keavy sighed and walked down the hall with Sinead; they walked in silence and kept throwing each other glances until Sinead finally spoke up. “Did you get high with Patrick yesterday?” Keavy squinted and thought for a few brief moments before she could answer. What happened yesterday? She asked herself slowly. Finally it dawned on her, the smell of smoke and the sight of a creek beside her polluted her memory. She shook her head in disbelief and then looked to Sinead. “No, I didn’t, why?” She whispered. “You weren’t at lunch…” Sinead started. “I wasn’t hungry…” “Then where did you go?” “Library…” Keavy nodded as the late bell sounded. “I better get going. I’ll see you later.” Keavy took off down the hall quickly as Sinead stood there until she couldn’t see her anymore. Then she went off to her own class and saw Allison walking in the opposite direction as she went. She figured that Allison probably wouldn’t care if Keavy were on drugs, she’d probably encourage it. After second block she made her way to lunch and looked for Keavy along the way, as she walked to the cafeteria she noticed Patrick and a few of his friends talking. “Yeah, Keavy's sister is a real pregnant dog.” Patrick said in disgust. “She yelled at her and then dragged her away.” “So, was she high?” One of his friends asked. “Oh she was so out of it,then she ended up hitting the ground and shaking and all that nuts...It was awesome..." Patrick heralded, giving notice of some sort of victory he claimed as the first person to get Keavy Lynch high.
Sinead heard enough and then stormed into the cafeteria, only to find Keavy not there once again. She looked around frantically and then glanced out the window her eyes met the sight of Keavy with one of Tara’s friends. They were only talking but the situation was imminent, all of Tara’s friends were druggies and Keavy never associated with them. It was all so obvious now, they walked off campus towards the creek and Sinead nearly screamed at the sight of it. Patrick and his friends walked by and still spoke of the happenings the day before. “What’s her sisters’ name, the one who dragged her away?” His friend asked. “I think her name is Allison, but who cares? She’s a pregnant dog.” Patrick claimed with his tone in its natural hubris manner. Allison? Sinead’s mind was boggled. She always assumed that Allison was just like Tara and didn’t care what Keavy did to her body. Obviously she did, and bothered to go after her yesterday. She needs to know…Sinead thought and then left the cafeteria to find her. She went to the office and asked for an announcement to be made for Allison to report to the main lobby immediately. The worry she felt was incipient and it grew more and more every second until Allison finally showed up. “Do you know why they called me here?” She asked Sinead imperiously, hiding her worry in front of Keavy’s best friend. “I need to talk to you,” Sinead replied. “It’s about Keavy.” “Keavy? What happened, where is she?” Allison’s eyes filled with concern as she backed Sinead against the wall. “She’s with a boy, one of Tara’s friends. I think she’s going to do what she did yesterday only this time it’s with a stranger, she’s never around them!” Sinead cried, almost hysterically. Allison’s heart sunk and her eyes batted as tears formed. She knew Tara’s friends were just as threatening as anyone and Sinead was right, Keavy was never around them. The boys were nothing but drug abusing horn balls who only ever wanted a little satisfaction on a daily basis. Keavy was impotent and wouldn’t stand a chance against the boys Tara was always with. The thoughts of them touching her caused incessant voices in her mind of her own past, how the same guys violated her, how could she let them do it to Keavy? They left immutable scars on Allison that left her nothing more then traumatized and every time she tried to wish it away it would merely come back to haunt her that it would never change. She couldn’t let that happen to Keavy. “Which way did he take her?” She demanded at once staring at a frightened Sinead. “I saw them outside of the cafeteria, heading to the creek.” Sinead shivered. “How long ago?” “Twenty minutes or so…” Allison looked at her for a moment and then over to the door she ran, Sinead watched her off until she was no where in sight. She wondered if she had done the right thing, even if Keavy hated her after this, she’d rather her best friend hate her then get hurt. Allison sprinted along the creek and listened for familiar voices. She wasn’t sure if she was going the right way or not but that did not matter, finding her sister was the only thing that did at that moment. “So, you don’t want Tara knowing?” The boy with Keavy asked. “This is all she ever seemed to want out of me, but I’m only trying it, so I don’t want to make her think she’s won anything.” Keavy replied, and then turned him around to face her. “Thanks TJ.” The two embraced and then continued walking along the creek hand in hand. TJ was only a year older than her, he was always around it seemed but they never spoke much, just a hello and goodbye if they noticed each other around. TJ dressed like a stereotypical biker or modernized gangster, grey tank top, black pants with silver zippers and a bright red bandana. He had such an intrepid attitude towards life and made it his goal to live it up as much as he could before meeting death face to face. His soft irreverent attitude made him out to be more innocent than the others in the group. Keavy really liked that about him because it set him apart and made him trustworthy in her eyes. “Tara isn’t as terrible as you make her out to be.” TJ said, sticking his hands in his pockets. Keavy suddenly felt inept over talking about Tara in front of one of her close friends, but maybe he was right, after all, he was around her more than Keavy was. She looked at him and nodded, he put his arm around her shoulder and they kept walking until they saw a few more guys from the gang. They passed around a joint and laughed at jokes that probably didn’t make much sense, Keavy and TJ eventually walked off on their own. “Are you sure you want to?” He whispered to her before kissing her neck. “I’m into trying new things…” She smiled at him and kissed him back. Allison finally smelled the scent of pot and ran towards it faster. When she reached the group she noticed that Keavy wasn’t in sight. “Where the hell is my little sister?” She demanded. They all laughed and she grabbed one of them and slammed him into the others. As she came towards them again, angry, they panicked and told her where the two stoned lovers had gone. Allison’s eyes widened and she took off after them. By the time she reached them it was too late, Keavy was no longer as innocent as she seemed. Out of the corner of her eye Keavy saw Allison standing there, inhibiting herself from moving. TJ pulled away when Keavy whispered her presence to him and he turned to look at her. “Get away from her.” Allison growled. He backed away and then looked at Keavy. She nodded for him to go and Allison grabbed her hand and walked her back home and then locked her in her room. “What the hell were you doing with him?” Allison yelled slamming the door shut behind her. Keavy jumped a little and didn’t answer she looked down at the floor and tried figuring out what she was supposed to say. As she stared at the carpet she heard Allison’s voice drone, but nothing seemed to make sense, the carpet was so blue. Right before Keavy’s eyes it started changing colors and she became dizzy. “Will you just listen to me?” Allison said, annoyed, making Keavy look at her. “It was only one time, what’s the big deal?” Keavy finally asked. “Apparently this is your second time smoking, enjoy it? I really hope you made it last because you’re never going to do it again, understand?” “That is complete bullnuts!” Keavy protested. “You and Tara do it all the time so stop being so d**n hypocritical!” “Is it so wrong that I’m looking out for you?” Allison argued. “I don’t need you to, I’m old enough to take care of myself, I don’t need you! When you’re out getting drunk off your ass I’m here taking care of Naomi, which is more then you and Tara have ever done!” Allison stepped back, insulted, and yet she knew it was true. As much as she tried to be there for her family she wasn’t always there. She wanted her own life and she made it that way when she went out with her own friends. Just like Shane and Tara she took advantage at the fact that Keavy rarely left the house. A tear streamed down her face as Keavy sat down on her bed. “If that’s how it is, fine, get yourself killed.” She said harshly as she left. Later on she went up to find Keavy sitting on the floor with a depressed look upon her face. She looked up at Allison and nearly cried. She sat down beside her and pulled her into an embrace. “Honey, you know I love you, and I may seem like a really bad person right now but I don’t mean to be at all, I don’t want you getting hurt. You and Naomi are the only ones I care about enough not go killing myself, because I can’t bring myself to hurt you. I know that you are probably pissed about what me and Tara have done in the past but I want you to know that I’ve stopped and I’m not doing those things anymore. I just don’t want to lose you like we lost Edele. You’re my little sister…and I love you.” Allison explained, sobbing a little. Keavy stared at her for a moment and then started crying Allison held her close and promised her that she wouldn’t let anyone hurt her again. “Promise me something, Keavy?” Allison cried. “Don’t ever become like me…I know you hate what I do but part of me just can’t control it anymore, but you can. Don’t be like me and Tara, I would never wish that on anyone and I can’t stand to see you do it to yourself.” “I promise…” Keavy whispered. Chapter 4 Weeks after Keavy made that promise to her sister she managed to keep it, she avoided all of Tara's friends and even Patrick only to make sure she wouldn’t do anything stupid. She craved it but after a while the feeling seemed to ebb itself away. More time was spent on school work and just hanging out with Lindsay and Sinead. They were both relieved that Keavy was acting more herself and that all of her depression moved out of its dormant position. Every now and then she would see TJ around but after the incident in the woods near the creek Allison wouldn’t let him anywhere near the house.Keavy focused on her work and her two best friends the most and stayed away from the boys. Lindsay had been having trouble with boys during that time, especially with a freshman in her creative writing class, Charlie it started getting out of hand when he followed her around like a sick puppy. He walked her to class, sent her pathetic little love notes and did stupid things like that which simply got on her nerves. “I don’t know what to do about Charlie, I have to see him every day and it would be rude if I cursed him out or something because he’d make a huge dramatic thing out of it…” Lindsay sighed at lunch one afternoon. “Tell him you don’t like him like that, that you just want to be friends.” Sinead suggested before taking a sip of her apple Snapple. “I tried, he won’t listen.” “Idiot” Keavy said with her voice in a diffused tone. “Who is an idiot?” Lindsay asked. “Charlie, you’ve been dropping hints to the loser for weeks, tell him you’re with someone.” Keavy replied as she saw Charlie approaching them. Charlie came and stood by the table and only looked at Lindsay for a time. He was short and wore baggy jeans, labeled t-shirts and to go with his wannabe “gangsta” look he had a silver chain around his neck with a heavy charm that said “C-Diddy” which must have been the most laughable and idiotic thing he could ever wear. No lie. He was an egocentric little punk who only wanted to be with Lindsay because she was a junior and the “hottie” of that class. If he could be with her he’d score with anyone. “Hey, Lindsay, what’s up?” He said in a dogmatic little voice trying to make the other girls think he was dating her. Lindsay sat there for a moment and stared at him. She wanted to tell him that she wasn’t interested and just end it politely, but Keavy had a point, she tried already and it just wasn’t working at all. What an enigma she brought herself into, she didn’t understand why this boy fancied her the way he did but she knew it wasn’t love or else she would feel the same way about him. “Charlie, I need to tell you something…” She said assertively. “Yeah?” He asked, sitting down across from her. “I…I’m with someone.” He pulled back a little, trying to elucidate this situation in his head but still managed to give her a look that questioned it. Lindsay only stared back and tried to think of a name, who would she say? Charlie knew a lot of people, even for a freshman. She looked around the cafeteria and tried to think of a name. Sinead and Keavy looked from Charlie to Lindsay and waited for this stunning piece of high school drama to continue. “Who?” He demanded after a minute or so. “I’m with…a girl.” She replied sounding completely unsure. Sinead and Keavy's eyes widened and then they looked at one another as Charlie nearly gagged on his own spit. Lindsay almost laughed but she was also very nervous and hoped that Charlie wouldn’t ask for a name. He gave her that same questioning look from before and she almost cried. She needed a name to give him so he’d leave her alone, but who? She couldn’t make anyone look bad and in all honesty she had never considered liking girls at all. “Who?” He begged. “She’s with me, what’s it to you?” Keavy piped up enshrouding Lindsay's strong dislike for him. “For real?” He asked looking from Keavy to Lindsay. “Lindsay, tell him, we’ve been together for months.” Keavy said, winking at Lindsay. “Yeah…we’ve been together for months.” Lindsay said emulating what Keavy said. Lindsay looked to Keavy and nearly shrugged, they both looked to Sinead and with their eyes urged her to join in the conversation to make it believable to Charlie. She cleared her throat and looked at him. She was an egregious liar but decided to herself that she would try anyway. “They’ve been going out for a long time, you didn’t know? They’re so obvious about it I’m surprised a lot of people don’t know.” She laughed, embellishing the fake relationship between Lindsay and Keavy. “It’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me!” Keavy said eccentrically. “I don’t believe you!” Charlie said, pointing at Lindsay, making others stare at them. “What’s not to believe?” “You’re both friends, this could be a trick!” “Honey,” Sinead sighed sarcastically. “If anyone wanted to dupe you they’d have to go to a more extreme level to do it. Everyone knows freshmen are just so smart.” “Prove it, prove it that you’re really together!” Keavy and Lindsay looked at each other, what were they supposed to do? If they could efface the problem and be free to know it would never disturb them again it would be fine but life doesn’t work that way. Keavy looked at Charlie and then at Karen. She started thinking to herself “He wants us to kiss that would prove enough.” Lindsay looked back at her and nodded, as if she heard what she was thinking.Sinead saw the glances between the two and understood, this was something that would remain esoteric between the three of them.Keavy took a deep breath and Lindsay got up and sat down beside her, they looked at each other for a moment. After that short moment Lindsay dug up all of the courage inside of her and pressed her lips against Keavy's. Her eyes grew wide and then she began to feel comfortable and sooner then either of them knew, a tongue was slipped into it and Charlie drew back disgusted some how they just ignored him and paid attention to each other. All of their surroundings disappeared nothing mattered anymore except for that kiss. Charlie pulled Lindsay back and looked her in the eye, he started telling her how two girls hooking up is disgusting and that she should be with him. Keavy grew annoyed and stood up, several people started yelling and ranting at them but she dismissed it. She pulled him away from her and glared at him. “You will never desecrate her again you little bastard.” She growled. “Are you threatening me?” “If I were threatening you, you would have pissed yourself by now, but I’m being nice and I’m going to let you go. Lindsay hates it when I threaten those who are much weaker than me.” “All right now, sweetie, sit down.” Lindsay interrupted, standing beside her with a hand on her shoulder. “He’s not worth getting upset over.” “But he’s not treating you like a lady and that’s wrong.” Keavy protested. “I know, but he’s dumb, don’t worry about it.” She assured her, as she sat back down. “Charlie, you should leave, I can’t hold her back like this for too long.” “pregnant dog” He mumbled under his breath as he started to walk away. “Say that again!” Keavy yelled standing up. Lindsay pulled her back down to her seat and held her there even as she struggled Lindsay refused to let her go. She couldn’t tell if Keavy were seriously upset or if it was only an act. Charlie spun around to look at them and there was nothing but fear in his eyes. Keavy was a very frightening person when she was angry. Lindsay saw him look at her and then she turned Keavy around to face her and kissed her again merely to keep her quiet. He took off after that quickly and seemed to never want much to do with Lindsay at all. “Ok, you two can stop now.” Sinead sighed. “Sorry about that.” Lindsay said to Keavy, letting her go. “Don’t worry about it.” Keavy replied wiping her mouth. They all agreed to try and keep this quiet, although they knew it was impossible to do so since so many people saw what happened and Charlie was a gossip hound so sooner or later rumors would spread. It didn’t seem to bother them that much because rumors were only rumors after all. After school they all walked home together, they walked past Sinead's house first so she was the first the bid them farewell. “Good luck with tomorrow, guys, Lord knows the rumors are already spread.” She laughed. “No kidding.” Keavy laughed back. “Hey Lindsay, we’re going to be famous!” “Yeah, every one is obsessed with romance and fighting these days. In one day they get a kiss between two girls and a threat to a horny freshman.” Lindsay joked. As they left for Lindsay's house they didn’t speak much at all. What was there to say? Neither of them knew how to feel about what happened, if it meant nothing they would feel nothing, but that’s not how they felt at all. In truth,Lindsay enjoyed giving the kiss as much as Keavy enjoyed receiving it. If they were to say that to each other then all of the rumors would be true. They couldn’t kill their reputations that way even if they wanted to. However, Keavy couldn’t keep it in very long about how she felt Lindsay needed to know. “Lindsay, about today…” Keavy mumbled nervously. “Yes?” Lindsay asked turning around as they reached her house and stood on her porch in front of the door. “I just want you to know that…” “What is it?” “You’re very good at kissing no wonder the boys are crazy for you.” Keavy laughed, covering up her feelings. “Oh…” Lindsay looked down sadly. “Yeah, I guess so.” “I’ll see you tomorrow?” “Yeah, see you tomorrow.” Keavy took Lindsay's free hand and kissed it that was as far as telling her she could get.Lindsay smiled and got the message loud and clear. She stepped over to her door and started to open it as Keavy walked down the steps and left. As cliché as Lindsay felt at that moment she thought to herself “I’ll never wash this hand again!”

Chapter 5 After leaving Lindsay at her house Keavy wandered about the neighborhood thinking about everything that happened. Her once listless behavior was swept away by that one kiss and she didn’t understand why. It must have been hours before she managed herself back home. For once, Shane was home, usually he would be out selling whatever he could on the streets a few towns away. He once put himself in jeopardy by selling drugs in his home town because several other dealers felt that he was invading their territory. Keavy remembered this night because Shane came home bleeding and it took hours for it to stop; he refused to see a doctor because he did not want to be put into rehab for drug abuse. She loved her brother dearly and as she sat there and helped him out by cleaning out the cuts and giving him a few pain killers he made her promise never to put him into anything like that. “I promise.” Keavy recalled saying. “You’re a good kid…” Shane said, wincing as she put rubbing alcohol on a cut on his neck.
Unlike their sisters, Shane wasn’t so judicious; he was never around long enough to make any kind of judgment on anyone in his family. Except their mother, she was the only one he could ever make a comment about due to the fact that she took off right after Edele died. He became so ruthless after both incidents because he loved them both so much and he felt that because they both left that family then they weren’t family anymore. He couldn’t say anything about Edele because she would never be able to come back, whereas there mother could come back if she really wanted to. Shane had lamented the losses so often that it became second nature and others around him began to simply ignore it. Keavy walked in the door and didn’t hear a sound, “They might be out…but where’s Naomi?” Naomi was always at home. She was truly unlike anyone in their family, she was probably a lot more stubborn then Keavy was. Naomi kept out of trouble and stayed away from boys and drugs because she felt no need for them and did not want to be like her older siblings. It made Keavy sick to know that Naomi looked at her the same way she looked at Tara, Allison and Shane. She basically took care of herself, like Keavy did. Their father was very negligent after a while and only sat around the house with a morose look on his face as he chugged beer after beer. Keavy looked up the stairs and saw a light on in her brother’s bedroom, she heard voices but they were not lucid enough to understand. She walked up the stairs slowly and listened, hearing Shane and Naomi in his room. She heard her sister crying and her brother barking some insane order at her. Keavy ran to his door and pushed it open to find him holding Naomi upside down while money dumped from her pocket. “Little thief!” He growled, dropping Naomi onto her head. Keavy rushed over to Rachel and helped her up, she held her there for a moment until Naomi could sit up at the very least. Naomi, just like Keavy, had epilepsy a head condition that causes seizures.A hit on the head could trigger her to have a fit instantly. It was a dreadful legacy passed down from each generation in their family. She was told she had gotten it from her father all she knew was that she was born with it and would die with it. Keavy was always concerned about Naomi's health especially when it came down to her medical history.
“What the f**k is wrong with you? You know what happens when she hits her head too hard! What were you thinking?” “If she didn’t want to get hurt she shouldn’t be stealing things from me!” Shane argued. “She didn’t do a d**n thing to you!” Keavy hissed pulling Naomi to her feet. “She stole my money!” “Bullnuts! You don’t have any money in this house it’s all in your pockets if it isn’t already spent before you get home!” “Get the hell out of here!” Shane yelled throwing his alarm clock at the wall behind them. Keavy pulled Naomi out of his room and into her own, paintings and drawings scattered all over the walls and floor, she sat down on her bed and kept Naomi by her side. “Come on, lay down…” Keavywhispered lowering her down to a pillow. “Keavy, why does he sell drugs?” Naomi asked with a tone of levity in her voice. “You don’t really care about that do you?” Keavy sighed. “No…just thought I’d make conversation.” “You’re weird…were you always like that?” Keavy laughed. “No, I changed, just like you…but I didn’t go from being an individual to being a sheep.” Naomi's voice became lax as she stared up at the ceiling carelessly. “What?” “You never liked being like Tara and Allison, what changed?” “I didn’t change!” “Then why do you do what they do?” Naomi asked sitting up. “I just like to do it is all, what’s wrong with that?” Keavy said quietly. “What would Edele think of you now? She’d go nuts on you.” “Get out.” Keavy growled, staring at the floor. “Now!” Naomi got up quickly and left, it had been so long since Edele was mentioned,Keavy never realized how much she still missed her. The depression that slowly manifested in Keavy after Edele's death became slightly more familiar again. “Keavy?” Edele's voice whispered in her mind. “Why are you sad?” “Because…” Keavy sobbed. “You left me…” Keavy went to her dresser and pulled a drawer open she reached inside and pulled out a joint and her lighter. She lit the joint and smoked it until there was practically nothing left of it. “I never left you, Keavy, you made yourself forget.” Edele's voice echoed in her mind. “You forgot about me and the person who you used to be you’re not my sister anymore, Keavy, you’re a monster in a girl’s body.” “Shut up! Shut up!” Keavy yelled pounding her fist into the door. “Keavy?” Shane's voice sounded from outside of her door. “Go away!” She cowered behind her pillow, fearing that he might have smelled the pot from across the hall. He opened the door and saw her rocking back and forth in a corner behind her pillow. He knelt beside her and saw the joint in her hand, he sighed and took it from her. “Who’s your dealer? You got ripped off if you paid money for this little thing.” “TJ’s brother Mickey gave it to me he buys his goods from you.” “So you smoked all of this?” Shane asked skeptically. Keavy nodded and took the joint back, he sat down and leaned against her bed and they passed it back and forth and talked about their feelings towards Edele's death and about how their mom left after that. For the first time ever in her life, Keavy saw Shane cry. The thought of those old memories coming back to haunt him were frightening, he never had anyone to talk to that truly understood how he felt, until he talked to Keavy. “You never told me that you felt that way about mom…” “No one ever asked me about it, so I kept it quiet.” Shane shrugged. “It’s not Edele's fault mom was always a little weird.” She said slowly. “She shouldn’t have left us like this!” “I know…”She said, tears welling up in her eyes. They embraced and just sat there for a while, Keavy cried and made Shane cry again. Then the thoughts about what Naomi had said earlier sunk in, she was turning into her sisters. They were both like their mother, unreliable and a terrible influence. As they grew up they found out how much they disliked her, she smoked, drank constantly and was never there when they needed her most. Their father was no different, they raised themselves and turned out terribly because they didn’t know any better. All they knew was money, drugs, sex, violence and self defense. Keavy showed more fidelity to Shane after that, they spoke more and shared another joint and talked on and on for the rest of the night. Chapter 6
Keavy started getting back into smoking pot in spite of what she promised Allison before, she made herself believe that the only way she could function and be happy was through smoking. The way it made her feel caused her to want it more and more, Keavy was an addict. Then a novel idea struck her, what if pot wasn’t the only thing that could make her feel so happy? So she tried new drugs like ecstasy, heroin, and when she got desperate she’d take Naomi's depakote along with her own dylanta, medicine that calmed their seizures. Each one became its own addiction, she loved to see the colors and hear things she’d never heard before, but the things she didn’t like were the hallucinations just before the drugs wore off. “Keavy?” Edele's voice said obscurely, Keavy could hardly tell who it was by ear but some how she knew it was her dear dead sister’s voice. “Edele?” She whispered groggily. Keavy sat up and looked around, she was in her bedroom but she didn’t know how she got there. The last place she remembered was at a club with Lindsay, they had a date that night and they must have gotten trashed beyond belief. A few weeks went by after that day in the cafeteria and after Keavy walked her home. Lindsay showed up at Keavy's door late one night and asked bluntly if she wanted to go out with her.Keavy stared at her confused and then simply said “yeah, sure.” “Keavy? It’s me, Lindsay.” The voice of Edele faded away and Lindsaycame into clear view in front of her. “Lindsay, why are we at my house?” “You passed out last night I brought you here because the back door to my house was locked. Really, Keavy, you shouldn’t over do it like that.” “Over do what?” Keavy asked sitting up quickly and then falling over. “The drugs, it’s hard to believe that you’re awake right now.” Lindsay sighed catching Keavy as she fell. “I didn’t over do anything…” “The things you do will become your nemesis, you won’t ever be able to stop.” “I don’t want to stop. This makes me happy it makes me feel like my old self again, before…” “Edele's accident…” Lindsay sighed. “Don’t…” Keavy said her voice filled with an odious growl. Lindsay looked away from her and closed her eyes for a moment or two. Every time Edele's accident came up in conversation, Keavy would get very quiet and wouldn’t look at anyone. It was upsetting to both of them, it was something Keavy would never get over and Lindsay would never truly understand. “Are you going to be all right?” She asked. “I need some time alone…” Keavy sighed pulling some “e” out of her pocket. “Please be careful…” She ogled up at Lindsay and turned away quickly. No one trusted her alone; she knew she could take care of herself. The problem was getting others to believe that themselves. Lindsay looked down at the floor and then got up to leave. “Lindsay…” She turned to face Keavy again and stepped closer to her hoping that her anger was obliterated somehow. “Shut the door on your way out, please.” Lindsay sighed and looked down at the floor again, piqued by Keavy's lack of affection, she turned away and closed the door. Jane shook her head and then swallowed the ecstasy. After a half hour it finally kicked in and her room turned into bright colors and she could hear everything going on. Drawings and paintings that were lying on her desk fell and sounded like birds flapping their wings in slow motion. The strong feeling of happiness permeated through her. The beautifully bright colors surrounded her and she looked down at herself, so dark and ugly compared to her surroundings. Even at her most happiness she was a pariah, set apart from everyone and everything else around her. “Whoa…” It was raining that morning, Lindsay left Keavy's house and took off in the downpour to see Sinead. Even though Lindsay supported what Keavy did and wanted her to be happy, she knew that she needed to help her as well. Sinead was Keavy's best friend and she figured that she would know how to handle this situation better then anyone. “She’s doing other drugs now?” Sinead exclaimed, worried and slightly disgusted. “She’s out of control I don’t know what I can do to help her…” Lindsay sobbed. “I have an idea…but we can’t say anything to Keavy or her family.”
Keavy looked around her room as the colors started to fade away and she was nominally stirred by it because subconsciously she knew what was going to happen next. Her mind would often play tricks on her as any drug would begin to wear off, she would start to hear and see things that weren’t there. Especially Edele, every time something happened and Keavy resorted to using drugs she would always see Edele sometime after it started to wear off. “Look at yourself…a disgrace…” That familiar voice droned from her mirror. She looked up at the mirror and saw eyes staring back at her, she saw a face but the expressions on it were so opaque and it made it hard to tell if the person was angry or anything. “I don’t even know you anymore, Keavy, this odyssey to change yourself will be your own destruction.” “You don’t know what you’re talking about.” Keavy whispered angrily at the mirror as a clear view of her sisters face appeared. “Don’t I Keavy? What happened to my philanthropic sister? You always thought of others before yourself but now all you do is sit in your room and smoke. It’s like you don’t even realize that there are so many people out in the world that care about you and you just shut them away as if they’re nothing.” “I don’t need them.” “You do need them and they need you, why have you ousted the people who care about you most from your life? You can’t keep nullifying yourself from them, the problems you have with them won’t go away if you do.” “Leave me alone…” Keavy cried. “No, Keavy, I won’t, I can’t.” Edele said, suddenly sitting beside her. “I’m a part of you I’m here to help you stop yourself from making a huge mistake. I can’t let you die.” “I’m not going to die!” Keavy screamed. “That’s what you say…” Keavy picked up a knife that sat beside her bed and swung it in her sister’s direction but it was too late, Edele was gone. Maybe she was never there at all, Keavy couldn’t tell. She screamed once more and hurled the knife at her door. After a few minutes she just sat there quietly and a knock sounded at the door. “Come in…” She said calmly. Lindsay walked in and knelt in front of her studying her up and down. Keavy couldn’t look at her, she wanted to apologize about earlier but the words couldn’t come out right. She stammered a moment as Lindsay sat beside her to quiet her down. “I’m sorry, sweetie…” She whispered into Keavy's ear holding her close. She smacked Keavy's head into her bed frame hard enough for her to knock out cold. Keavy fell limp into her arms and she looked up at the door to see Sinead standing there. “Let’s get her out of here before her sisters get home.” “Right…” Lindsay sighed looking down at her. “Lindsay, she needs this now more then ever.” Lindsay lifted her up off the ground and Sinead helped her carry her to the car. They drove out to drug rehabilitation center that was four towns over. The plan was to not tell Keavy's family where she was and if too many questions were asked they were going to make it seem like she simply became nomadic and just took off on her own one day for reason at all. Hours after they left Keavy at rehab she woke up on a bed that she knew wasn’t hers. She sat up with a headache and kept asking herself “Where am I?” “How did I get here?” There was nothing but silence until she heard voices outside of the door saying her name… “Her name is Keavy, that’s all we know…” “She’ll be here for a while, until we can contact her family at least.” Keavy sat up against the wall and stared blankly forward as she thought about who put her there. She felt so betrayed, anger sunk through her system and she remained quiet for the rest of the night.

Chapter 7 Keavy was in the rehabilitation center for two months straight. Her mind was distressed and she was suffering from poignant anxiety that kept her up at night. Every night she would sit up in bed and twitch, thinking about how she was betrayed and brought her against her own will. Her last bits of sense brought in reason, there had to be a palatable explanation for her being there. After a while she started thinking about her family, perhaps she was finally beginning to let herself be drained of all of the things that she put into her body. She was able to think more clearly now and she hadn’t seen or heard Edele at all. There were times when she would think about how her siblings must miss her, she thought about calling but something held her back. It was like there was some invisible partition between herself and a ride home. “It’s been two months and there’s been no sight of Keavy. No one, not even her closest friends, know where she could be. I’ve never been so worried, she may think she can take care of herself but the truth is she can’t. She’s only sixteen years old.” Terry kept thinking over and over in her mind. “How could she run off like this? I don’t understand…” “Allison?” Tara said from behind her. “Why are you up?” “Nothing, I’m just thinking…” Allison sighed. “Keavy?” “Uh-huh.” There was a brief silence, Allison sat down on the floor and Tara sat beside her. Tara stared at the wall for a moment and thought of a solution to their problem. The day they found out Keavy had gone missing, they asked Sinead and Lindsay where she might have gone and they hardly spoke two words to them. She knew that they knew something she was very prudent in delicate situations like this and decided to talk to the two of them again. This time, however, she was going to get the answers she wanted to hear. Allison started to cry, like she had done so many nights before. "Don't worry," Tara said. "I'll find her." **The Next day** “I don’t know anything!” Lindsay cried out as one of Tara's friends pinned her against the wall. “Lindsay, we’ll never get anywhere until you start telling me the truth. Now I’m going to ask you again, where is my sister?” Tara demanded calmly flipping her butterfly knife. “I…don’t…know…” Lindsay whimpered. “Come on Linds, don’t be this way. I have a strong penchant for you; you are not like that other friend of Keavy's at all. Where is she?” “I can’t tell you that…” “Okay, if you say so…” She sighed and nodded at her friend, who ended up slamming Lindsay back into the ground, she handed him her butterfly knife. "Go on then." “Okay! Okay! I’ll talk!” Lindsay screamed as she felt the blade against her face. “That’s more like it.” Tara said, waving the boy away.
Sinead was sitting in her room doing homework when she got a pivotal phone call.Lindsay called telling her everything that happened, Tara knew where to find Keavy and was going to bring her home. It was only two months, what if she wasn’t ready to face everyone just yet, what if she wasn’t entirely cleaned up. How could Tara be so provincial? Sinead knew far too well that all Tara wanted Keavy doing was drugs. That’s always how it seemed at least. There was something about her that Sinead just could not trust. Tara drove to the rehabilitation center and asked to see Keavy immediately. Apparently they kept her in a room alone most of the day because she wasn’t responding well to others in rehab. If Keavy wasn’t being socially drug free, she was in her room drawing pictures. She never spoke to anyone unless asked a question at least four times. Tara told them she was Keavy's legal guardian so she was able to peruse through her records. “She was brought here for drug abuse?” Tara asked. “Two young ladies brought her in, she wasn’t conscious, they said they’d found her at the side of a road.” Keavy's doctor responded. “How’s she been? We were so worried about her, is she all right?” “She’s a quaint young lady.” He said simply. “She’s very charming to be around, but not so much in a group. Was she antisocial at home as well?” “No, she never really precluded herself from the family until her sister passed away two years ago.” “I see…” “Is she well enough to come home?” Tara finally asked. “Well, she’s been very stable for over a month now and has gone through drastic and prolific changes, all for the better of course. I’m sure she’s well enough to go back with you today she’s in her room right now would you like to see her?” The doctor nodded and showed Tara where Keavy's room was, she acted so quintessential so the man would honestly believe she was the legal guardian of this child. She tried to make herself out to be so perfect as if she were some model citizen. They entered Keavy's room and all she did was glance over at them. She had a prosaic stare that bewildered Tara, it was as if she wasn’t completely there. The blankness in her eyes ceased when the doctor asked her to come over to them. Tara looked at her and smiled while Keavy stared back at her quietly. “I’m here to take you home, kiddo.” She said plausibly holding out her hand. Keavy looked at her and then her hand for a moment. Tara could not have put her here if she was coming to get her out. “Why did this take so long?” She kept thinking. It didn’t matter now because she was free. So she took Tara's hand and they left for home. Chapter 8 On the drive home Keavy stayed quiet, Tara blared the radio for a while until she started getting a headache. She switched off the radio and looked over at Keavy, who only stared out the window with a blank face. “Why so down? I got you out of there.” She said, breaking the silence. “I’m just a little tired.” Keavy said looking up at her. “Who put you in there?” “I don’t know…” She replied and returned her gaze to the window. “But I don’t want to do that stuff anymore.” “You say that, only because you didn’t know what you were doing.” “What?” She asked turning back to Tara. “As a druggie, you were a fledgling. Since you did a lot of that nuts alone, you didn’t know how to do it properly.” “What the hell are you talking about? I could have died either way! Besides, how is there a proper way of doing drugs?” “I would have been there, I could have helped you.” “Helped me? Tara, I’m afraid of you.” Tara stopped the car abruptly and stared at Keavy for a while. She didn’t return the glance she stared out the window with the same blank face as before. “Afraid? Why?” “When you used to talk to me and Edele about the things you do, and the way you come home at night now you’re a mess. Every day you look worse and worse. It’s like you don’t even know that what you’re doing is bad.” Keavy sighed galvanizing her true feelings towards her sister. “I don’t like being afraid of you, you’re my older sister and it shouldn’t be this way.” “Well, the pot can’t kill me or make me sick. Trust me, I researched it.” Tara pointed out her voice was informative but genteel. “It’s used for medical purposes so it must be safe.” “It won’t ever change how I feel towards you, I’m afraid of you and for you. You don’t just smoke pot you do other things too. I’ve seen it, the way you act, the way your clothes reek of alcohol and cigarettes, the way you stagger around on the porch in the early morning until you finally find the door.” “I am in complete control of what I do.” Tara protested making everything Keavy just said seem so futile. Keavy flew into a gamut of emotion and confusion she knew all too well that Tara was messed up in a lot of ways but she never realized that she was in denial about it. She was fortuitous enough to not let herself become that way even though she loved her sister dearly she never wanted to be anything like her. Being in rehab flourished her common sense greatly she wanted to be the person she used to be. While alone in her room at night she would go into a foray of herself so she could change the things she didn’t like. It cleaned her up faster then most people who went into rehab for help. “You only think you’re in complete control when you’re really just a slave to doing the things you do.” Keavy replied refusing to forfeit this argument. This garnered all of Tara's attention causing her to get out of the car and drag Keavy out with her so they could talk somewhere else. They walked to the side of the road and Tara paced about for a moment or two. “You act as if what I do has given me some sort of infamy but it hasn’t, other people do it too so I don’t see why it makes you afraid of me!” She finally blurted out. “It is,Tara, what you do makes you a terrible person and a horrible role model for your younger siblings doesn’t that mean anything to you?” Keavy rebuked throwing her hands into the air. “You know you’re seriously sounding like Edele right now and I don’t appreciate it at all.” Tara rebuffed. That was a reprehensible move on Keavy's part for that was the exact thing she was going for to get under her sisters’ skin. Cleaning up in rehab made her robust and resilient causing her to act and feel free to say what she had so longed to say. “Some one has to, she was smart enough to stay away from that nuts and now I am as well.” “Yeah she's also dead, remember?” Tara's tone grew raucous as she backed Keavy against the car. Keavy's fury over that replenished and a fresh wave of anger stirred within her and she pushed Tara to the ground. As she fell Keavy stepped over her and stared down at her relegating her importance. “All I have left of Edele are relics of the past and if I’ve learned anything from my experiences since her death it is not to dwell on what has happened and to just focus on how things could go later.”
Keavy helped her up and glared at her once more before returning to the car. Tara sighed, shook her head and followed after her. They drove home in silence and once they reached home Keavy didn’t say anything or look up at her. She got out of the car and went into the house while Tara sat in the darkness of her car and lit a cigarette.

Chapter 9 Weeks went by after the incident in Tara's car and neither of them had spoken more then two words to each other. It disturbed Allison a little bit but she was glad that Keavy was finally cleaned out of all the drugs she had been doing. It brought back the little sister she knew and loved two years ago, a scintillating young girl without a spurious bone in her body. “She’s a lot better off now then she was before.” She said to Tara one night. “Uh huh” Tara replied. “What’s wrong with you?” “Nothing…” “Liar” Allison said and then making a sardonic remark, “It’s like you’re angry with her for being healthy. “Shut the hell up, Allison! What do you know anyway? At least she’s not a sleeper like you are!” Tara hissed becoming strident. The two of them stared for a time and then walked away from each other. Since Keavy had gone missing they treated each other with an unforgivable turpitude, blaming each other for her disappearance. Allison blamed Tara for it because she was a terrible influence and then Tara would break in and blame Allison for it due to the fact that she was no better. The arguments became so trivial that they just let it go without the attempt of some physical abuse to one another. Once Keavy was safe at home it didn’t matter anymore anyway. Keavy on the other hand wasn’t miserable the way Tara was, she was constantly out with KareLindsay and Sinead having a good time. There was never really a moment when she wasn’t smiling. She stayed at Lindsay's for a night so she could get away from Tara, who had been undermining her since she got home. Allison let her stay at Lindsay's because the two of them were very close and she trusted Keavy not to do anything dumb. Since she returned, she was a steadfast companion to Lindsay. She was loyal to her and was there when she needed her most. Lindsay loved the saccharine side of Keavy, she was so much sweeter then she was before. “Someone’s in a good mood.” Lindsay laughed as Keavy held her in a loving embrace. “Never better” Keavy released her and looked into her eyes, still smiling. “You know, that smile really pulls your look together.” They laughed and talked over a soda about the time Keavy spent cleaning up and the time Lindsay spent missing her after a time they became exhausted and decided to turn in for the night. Keavy had never been so happy before now she was no longer servile to the chemicals that rushed through her veins. She wouldn’t let drugs stymie there way into her life again. She remembered how Tara would plot stratagems against her and Edele so they’d start doing that kind of stuff earlier in their life and she swore to herself she wouldn’t let that happen again either. Even if it did upset Tara to look at her this was Keavy's stoic decision and there was no way she would go back on it and make herself sick again. “You’re right to make that decision.” Sinead said the next day as they walked down the streets. “I know, it’s just hard, it’s like Tara hates me for wanting it this way.” “Well, Tara is an idiot.” Sinead sighed. Keavy laughed a little and Sinead laughed with her as well. She was glad that she could talk to Sinead about these things. That’s the perk about best friends they can vent to each other with their hearts content and still be cool afterwards. Keavy was so happy to be back. Chapter 10 Keavy was happy to be home safe with her family and friends. She was a lot more stable then ever before and yet a part of her still felt empty. She had been thinking of Edele a lot...
“That must be it.” She pondered to herself. She searched inside of herself but still found the situation abstruse, she did not understand why she felt so terrible and so empty. Another moment she wavered at the idea that it might be guilt that she felt. “What if I did something to stop her? What if I asked her to stay home that night? What if I went with her, would she still be here?” These thoughts circled her mind until her head ached and her body became numb like it did when she found out Edele was gone. She was vehement about the overwhelming guilt trip that she heard the voices in her head again like she did once before while stoned. After a while she managed herself into an unsound sleep only to hear the voices again… “Keavy…” Edele's winsome voice whispered like some sort of dream. “Wake up Keavy.” She tossed in her sleep with a faded memory playing in her mind…
“Tara's going to pick me up at the mall tonight and give me a lift home, are you going to be there with her?” Edele asked grabbing her jacket from the closet of their bedroom they once shared.
Keavy was so wistful to say yes but the memory played out to reality as she said, “I don’t know I haven’t been sleeping so well lately, I thought I’d turn in early.” Edele looked at Keavy for a brief moment and sat down on the bed beside her. They kept the gaze between them and then Edele nodded and then embraced her. It hit Keavy then that, that was the last time the two had any physical contact. “I want you to sleep then.” As the dream started to end and the thoughts darkened to nothing she kept wondering if she responded differently that night would her sister still be with her. That last embrace was the only thing she had left of Edele. It bothered her more so now then ever that she still felt the same pain she felt the day Edele died. It is only natural for one to become viable enough to move on after a loss but why didn’t she? She stopped thinking about it entirely and drifted back into a dreamless sleep. The next day she felt the craving for a joint, it had been a while but the feeling was strong. What’s one joint? She could handle it and not get hooked, she was stronger now but apparently still weak if she wanted it. She could have held back but she decided against it and the first person she turned to was her sister. “Tara?” She said softly knocking on the door to her sister's room. “Can I talk to you?” “Sure, kid.” Tara said with her eyes dully transfixed on a brightly colored poster across the room. Tara was way ahead of her,she was stoned like no ones business and had a joint in her left hand. Keavy noted this immediately as she sat down. She eyed the joint and then caught Tara's eyes looking at her. “Do you mind?” Keavy said gesturing at her left hand. Tara's eyebrow arched slightly and she handed it over slowly. “Thanks.” Keavy took a drag and exhaled as if it were the best thing that ever happened to her in her entire life. They passed it back and forth vying over whom could get higher faster. Finally they started talking about their thoughts on dark poetry and that lead into the subject of death. “I’ve been thinking about Edele a lot.” Keavy admitted. “I imagine you would be…” Tara said and then laughed. “Why are you laughing?” The air may have been virulent in its own right but Keavy wasn’t as poisoned as Tara at that point. She rejected the joint three times as Tara went on vilifying herself over death. “You’re better off without her you know.” Keavy stayed quiet and listened more as Tara went on her senseless rant for her strong dislike of Edele. A moment passed and Keavy slipped into another faded memory…
“You should at least try it before you go knockin’ it.” Tara said waving the joint in front of Keavy. “She said no,Tara, and so did I. So go kill yourself somewhere else and leave us alone.” Edele growled pulling Keavy beside her. “Whatever, one day, Keavy, you’ll try it, without your dumber half f**king it up.” It suddenly dawned on Keavy as she half listened to Tara and to the tumult of memories playing in her mind. It all made sense now. It flashed through her mind bit by bit and it all came together…
“Tara's going to pick me up at the mall tonight and give me a lift home, are you going to be there with her?” “She said no, Tara, and so did I. So go kill yourself somewhere else and leave us alone.” “Whatever, one day, Keavy, you’ll try it, without your dumber half f**king it up.” Tara had blinded her this entire time with false sincerity. She made a fool of her and her feelings and blinded her. As Tara's words became verbose and more understandable to Keavy's ear she heard words that changed her life forever. “So I killed her.” Tara put it simply. “I did it for you, so you could try new things. I remember how you found out, you were so upset I almost felt bad for what I did but I knew it was for the best. I made a point from then on to be there to make you feel better. That makes me a good big sister.”
She looked up with wide eyes and did not cry nor move. Her body became ambulatory instantly.Tara looked back at her laughing as if it were so insignificant. She went on explaining how she was the one who set it all up, how she purposely crashed and risked her own life to kill her own flesh and blood. Keavy's hand moved to her pocket and she reached for her knife. At that moment she became the arbiter of Tara's fait. Her eyes remained wide as she held the knife in her hand and heaved it down into Tara's unsuspecting chest. Soon Tara's eyes were as wide as Keavy's however they were in shock rather then a mindless rage. Blood drenched her shirt and her eyes dropped down heavily as if she were about to fall into a deep sleep. She continued looking into her little sisters eyes. “Are you feeling better now?” Keavy's eyes dulled back to normal as Tara fell limp into her arms. Tears burned at her eyes as she realized what she had done. Moments went by and she cried so hard when she made herself quiet down she kissed Tara's forehead and set her down on the bed. In an instant she ran from the house and went to Sinead's. There was no turning back now, she was a murderer and had to pay the price. “Keavy, what’s wrong?” Sinead asked seeing her best friend soaked in tears and blood. “I killed my sister! I killed my sister!” She cried senselessly. “What? Slow down I can hardly understand you.” Sinead panicked sitting Keavy down on the steps with her outside. “I need you to do me a favor.” Keavy said after calming down. Sinead felt the need to ask more questions but decided not to. She remembered the night in Madrid when Keavy,Edele and Lindsay saved her and she never was able to pay them back in full so whatever favor Keavy asked for she was willing to give. “Anything” She nodded. “I need you to tell Lindsay I can’t love her and she’s better off without me…” Keavy trailed off. “Why? She’s dating you not me, why can’t you tell her?” “Please Sinead, I don’t ask for much. I just need you to do this one last thing for me, ok?” Keavy was on the verge of tears again. “All right, I’ll go to her house now, do you want to come?” “No, I just want to be alone.” Keavy got up and walked away. Sinead watched her off and then headed to Lindsay's house. She tried to calm Lindsay down after telling her but there was nothing doing her any good. Lindsay freaked out and threatened her life with a gun. “Are you insane? Suicide is no answer!” Sinead nearly yelled. “I have a friend, with a gun, he won’t mind letting me borrow it.” Lindsay went on oblivious to what Sinead was saying. “Lindsay! Listen to me!” Sinead yelled smacking her. “Talk to Keavy, don’t kill yourself over this. She’s not doing well, I don’t know what exactly is going on but it’s bad enough that she made me come here…” “She made you?” Lindsay said, disgusted at the thought. “That little chicken nuts! I could kill her, why wouldn’t she have the nerve to say all of this to my face? Why?” “I don’t know…” Sinead sighed in a worried tone. “I just hope she’s all right…” Lindsay turned away from her and remained silent Sinead let herself out and went home. Keavy walked around aimlessly until morning and managed herself into the house before dawn. No one was home this didn’t surprise her in the very least. She pulled the knife out of her pocket and stared at the dried blood on its blade. It hurt her that she was the one to stain it with such cruelty and brutality. She sat at her desk and pulled out a piece of paper and a black pen and then started to write… “Dear Allison,Shane and Naomi, By the time you get this I’ll be gone. I’m sorry for what I did and if I could I’d take it back faster then you could even imagine. What’s done is done and I understand that you hate me for it. In the moment it took to kill my own sister I realized my own fait was meaningless unless I took it into my own way like I did with Tara. Please don’t try to find me. I love you all with every inch of my heart and soul and I only ask for your forgiveness although I’d understand if you never did consider it an option. Allison and Shane, please take care of Naomi. Naomi, be there for them too, they need you now more then ever. Be good and be happy. I love you all. --Keavy.”

Chapter 11 Keavy walked along the streets of the town for hours contemplating her own death. She knew her life had to end one day as any human being but to extirpate herself from existence was beyond her comprehension. On her walk she espied many ways to go through with her impending death, a train, a river even a gang looking for a good fight. Before leaving the house she gathered all of Tara's drugs and tried to over dose herself for a death in her sleep possibly. Death is more complicated then it seems.Keavy knew she could not go back home, she knew her siblings felt perfidious towards her when she got off the drugs. Going back would prove them right and they would be even more upset with her knowing that she was the one that murdered Tara. Murder the word itself made her become deathly pallid. She stopped in her tracks and oscillated to and fro until she forced herself to move on. Allison found tara's body and immediately fell at her side with a wave of mellifluous tears streaming down her face. Shane trudged in with Keavy's letter in his hand; he passed it to Allison and fell to his knees crying at the sight of Tara's corpse on the ground. The two embraced and Naomi walked in to see what was going on. "Whats wrong?" "Nothing..." Shane mumbled. "Don't worry about it,ok?" Allison whispered. “She’s not breathing and she’s bleeding too…” Naomi protested. “Get out of here!” Allison screamed at her, ossified and flustered from confusion. She ran out of the room and then went to school some time after that. Allison and Shane called the morgue and went through the basics with a piquant funeral director. Through the year or so that this went on Allison finally realized the day it was. That day was the four year anniversary of Edele's passing, since that dreadful day she knew that Keavy would be next no matter what. It was bad enough she became ascetic that was a sign in itself. She turned into a hermit and shut herself away from her family and friends. It was a feeling or even a prescient since her instincts were usually accurate. She should have known when Tara was trying to profligate Keavy that it would end in no good. She knew but she didn’t do anything to stop it even when she had many opportunities to do so. This time would be different, she was determined to find Keavy and stop her from killing herself. Immediately she got up and ran out the door with Shane close behind her. “Keavy! Keavy!” they cried throughout the town in different directions. It seemed that out of all of their so called friends not one of them was munificent enough to help them find their sister. Not even an officious attempt graced their cause. It was like no one cared that they existed and that their friend became deleterious to herself and others around her. “Keavy…”Lindsay sighed softly to herself as a friend of hers handed her a kahr 9mm PM9 hand gun. The feelings she felt towards Keavy were practically desiccated at that point. She felt discomfited because she didn’t break up with her on her own. This was not the Keavy she knew and loved but she did not care, because of her, Lindsay's parents looked down on her and castigated her and accused her of turning into a low life fool. She dismissed all of that nonsense and made herself believe what she and Keavy had been special she brooked those harsh comments and moved on. She became a gainsayer to those happy times with Keavy and thought only of her destruction. The gun was hidden in the pocket of her trench coat and she went to school. Keavy walked around and realized she was outside of her younger sisters’ school. She and Naomi were never really that close and never had a very garrulous conversation in their entire existence together. They never shared any maudlin moments or memories and Keavy felt guilty about that. However for no reason at all she decided to drop in and talk to Naomi. School didn’t start until 8:10 and at that moment it was only 7:40. She walked into the school and snuck into the gym seeing all of the students sitting on the bleachers. She looked around for Naomi and spotted her alone at the end. Without hesitation she loped over and sat down beside her. “What are you doing here?” Naomi asked. “Hey, I’m just stopping by to say hello is all.” Keavy smiled with alacrity. “You couldn’t have waited until we got home today?” “No, I had to do it now.” She adumbrated her own fate but said it in an apocryphal voice that it left Naomi confused as they shared an embrace. “I’m sorry I haven’t been a good to you, not like you honestly look to me as anything after the way I’ve been these last few years.” “It’s ok…” Naomi nodded with a half smile. “I have looked up to you if it counts as much.” her voice chary now as if she was afraid to tell Keavy how she really felt. “What? You’ve got to be kidding me.” Keavy laughed mordantly. “No, really you’ve been an ok person to look up to. I’m not perfect and I know that and neither are you but it’s the way you carried yourself these last few years. Even though you did some stupid stuff you got through it with little to no help and even when you wanted to you never forgot who cared about you the most. You’re a good person and I look up to you for that.” The way she said it lavished such encomium Keavy could hardly believe what was being said. Keavy sat there and stared at her for a moment not wanting to believe what she was hearing. She always thought of herself as an irascible punk with no more then anger and drug issues. Naomi did not think of her sister that way. She admitted to herself once that she wanted to be as assiduous and keep herself busy the way Keavy did to at least attempt to stay out of trouble. They shared one last embrace and Keavy stood up and looked at her little sister one last time. “I love you, don’t you ever forget that.” That did it once Keavy left Naomi knew what was going on. It finally dawned on her that Tara was dead and Keavy wasn’t just stopping by to say hello at random. She ran to the office and called her house to find that no one was home. School did not matter at that moment. She ran out of the school and found Terry on the streets looking for Keavy. “She’s going to the high school! She has to be going there!” Naomi cried trying to catch her breath from running. “How do you know?” Allison asked. “I just know…” Naomi said breahtlessly. They took off seeing Sinead on their way to the school. She knew where Keavy's locker and classes were and took a different path to find her. In her mind she thought of Keavy at her locker and Lindsay blasting her brains out with a gun. She got to the school faster then the others and ran around the hallways screaming for her best friend. Lindsay came in through the cafeteria and headed towards Keavy's locker which was in the hallway beside it. The cafeteria doors flung open and she walked out of it looking around for her victim. Keavy blended in with the crowd as she knelt at her locker, emptying it out so someone else could have it and not have to go to the trouble of cleaning it themselves. Lindsay wore a petulant look on her face as she saw her there low on the ground like a sick animal. “What I’m doing is for the best…” Keavy said aloud. Her mind wandered on the thought of how Sinead was doing. Sienad was her best friend after all and through thick and thin they stuck by each other. Ever since that day in Madrid they seemed almost inseparable. She knew what Sinead would tell her, suicide wasn’t the way to go and the best thing to do would be to turn herself in or get help from a professional. The more the thought crossed her mind the more she considered against her own self destruction. Her body was trashed from the night before at her first attempt at death. Marijuana, ecstasy, heroin, medication, everything that Tara had in her room Keavy abducted for herself. She came to her senses and decided it would be better to get help and turn herself in like Sinead would want her to. She stood up and slung her book bag over her shoulder only to hear a click at her ear. Her eyes met the gaze of her former lovers scowl. Lindsay stood there in front of her with the gun pointed at her forehead. An evanescent moment of silence passed between them before one of them spoke up… “Do you know what you did to me?” Said Lindsay in tears. “I’m sorry.” Keavy whispered perspicacious to the fact that there was a gun in her face. “You’re not sorry!” Lindsay screamed. “I don’t know you anymore, Keavy, I thought I knew, but I don’t.” She knew that it would be recondite to Keavy of her feelings towards her. “I am…I’ve done so much to hurt you and I’m still stunned that you’ve stayed with me…I’d rather putrefy in hell then hurt anyone else again.” “You’re not…” Lindsay belied her as tears streamed down her face. They shared another moment of abeyance and Lindsay lowered the gun and started to walk away.Keavy looked on after her and closed her locker she pulled the knife out of her pocket that she used to kill Tara and stared at it. She looked up at the sound of Lindsay's voice. “If you want to go to hell, then you will.” She said holding the gun up at her again only this time she pulled the trigger. “Lindsay! No!” Sinead cried out jumping in front of Keavy hoping to catch the bullet as a human shield. “MSinead!” Both Lindsay and Keavy cried out as the bullet ricocheted off a couple of lockers. “Are you insane, Lindsay?!” Sinead yelled with contentious anger.
“Get out of my way,Sinead,or you'll die too!” Lindsay replied with an eerie capricious tone in her voice as she held up the gun again. Keavy's mind snapped at the thought of her best friend being killed or even hurt by anyone else within her all of her anger burst and resulted in a debacle making her charge at Lindsay. Before she knew what was going on she saw Keavy practically in front of her with the knife in her hand. All of the noise and anger caused chaos in the hall way, when Allison and Naomi reached the school they followed the screams and yells of the students and found Keavy and Lindsay at the breaking point. Allison tried to run to them with Naomi at her side but she was stopped by a mob of students that surrounded them. Naomi squeezed through them and made it to see her sister defend her best friend. A fusillade gun shot was heard and an agonizing cry from Lindsay and both girls dropped to the floor instantly. The chaos went on at its zenith moment as the blood from both girls streamed across the hall way. Naomi stared at the sight and Sinead did the same not too far away from her. This moment was so chimerical that it did not seem real at all. She looked up at Sinead who had a faint circumlocution expression on her face as she stammered a little. They looked down at the bodies once more and realized that the once vivacious young girls were now dead. No one would ever guess that Keavy would have bothered defending her dearest friend Sinead again, especially under her condition. There were so many things rushing through her body, marijuana, heroine, ecstasy, alcohol. She was so trashed from the night before and she still stood in front of that gun with a knife in her hand. Now there are two bodies on the floor and two families in mourning.
The End.
