I don't dislike them so much, as just don't give a d**n 'bout it all. I saw the first couple movies and was just 'meh'... Not really into the whole magic fantasy thing anyways. Found the Lord of the Rings movies boring as hell despite actually being a fan of Peter Jacksons at the time (mainly due to his earlier more fun, and quirky...and usually very bloody... work)
It censored thaaat word? Which century are we in?

is there anybody else that doesnt like the harry potter films or books, or is it just me? I like the films, never read any of the books. My daughter also likes the films but hates the books because JK Rowling writes "try and" instead of "try to". My daughter is obviously a pedant in her dad's footsteps. Going to see the latest film this weekend. I'll let you know how it is (without any spoilers).

its ok...its the obsessors that bother me...there is nothing else beyond Harry potter...greatest books ever written according to these crazies...I said to one of my dreadfully obsessed friends once that if I were to ever pursue a creative writing career my goal was to beat out the fame and glory of the Harry Potter books...whether I could do it or not wasn't the problem...the fact that I said it offended her enough.
she didn't speak with me for a few months...it was funny. ;D

I was never really "into" them, per se. I've read all, but the last three. They're not bad. I've read better. But I've also read worse.
Also, I'm totally a Slytherine. Did an online test. I was bored.
I think at this point, some people are just sick of it. Things can wear out their novelty quite quickly if you overdo it.
Incidentally, Harry Potter is book and movie series, not a television show. Wouldn't it make more sense somewhere else?

I was at the football yesterday (pre-season friendly) and my friend asked me if my son had got the last book (released yesterday). I said he'd pre-ordered it on Amazon and it arrived on the day of release.
My friend went on to say that a bookshop in Rochdale had been selling it a day early and it had been all over the internet that (name withheld in case anyone's going to read it) got killed. I replied that I didn't know - I was hoping to watch the final film without knowing which main character died. I suppose it was a bit naive to think I could go two or three years without finding out, but I didn't expect someone to tell me the day the book was released!
My son saw the film yesterday with friends and is coming again with us this evening - he says it really is good enough to watch twice.

I do love Harry Potter, though. I've seen all the movies out so far and I've read all the books.

Everybody has their preferences. I prefer murder mysteries and conspiracy stories, myself. I think Harry Potter insists upon itself a bit. I mean, yeah, it's a popular series and it's good, but its not the best thing ever written. That's right, you hordes of Potter fanatics. I said it.
Incidentally, y'all know the girl who plays Luna Lovegood in the Order of the Phoenix movie full name is Evanna Meghan Naomi Lynch? And she's Irish? HA! ...That amuses me.

they're okay, but the obsessors need a hobby. I rather read the books.

I'm not an obsessive fan, but I do like the films and the books, although the directors have gotten a bit more lazy (course, if they did everything exactly as-is with the book, the films would be about 9 hours!) The first film was spot-on, and now they're sort of dragging along. I'm the only person in my family who likes them. Maybe I'm biased though, because I grew up with the books- started reading them at the age of 9 (aww, i remember having to put the 3rd book down for a couple of weeks cos it scared me ;D) and I'll be 17 this year. And, I have a bit of a Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) obsession.
